My meds are kicking in so I’m writing this with some difficulty, and I won’t remember tomorrow.

I need some advice on what to possibly introduce my kid brother to music wise. He came to me today asking if I could get Candyshop and, for a minute, I twigged that it might be fiddycents, but then thought it was perhaps some sort of pop group. Then he mentioned fiddy and I came to the decision to deny him listening to fiddy by calling fiddy’s music “gay and crap”.

So I asked him to name me some other bands/artists he could think of and I would consider getting other music for him. He then loaded up FIFA 07 and browsed the musical sampling available in that game and came down to three albums:

Shiny Toy Guns – We Are Pilots
Us3 – Schizophonic
Morning Runner – Wilderness Is Paradise Now

Now he’s only heard one track off each of those albums in Fifa 07, he’s ten years old and I don’t really know what to do with him in introducing music. He may not actually like the albums, I don’t know.

Should I just get gim fiddy’s albums too? He thinks fiddy is cool, in some respects, probably due to his peer group, I don’t get involved with who he’s friends with or what he does in his spare time, as long as he finishes his homework. I don’t really think fiddy’s music is gay and crap, but I do know I don’t like his music. I would introduce him to some of the artists that I like, but then I don’t think he’d like it because he’s one of these mainstream kids that follow musical trends, if you see what I mean.

It’s a minor dilemma and one I would appreciate assistance in perhaps.
